Günter Hauptmann

Günter Hauptmann studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences at Giessen-Friedberg. In 1981, he joined Canon Business Solutions as a Component/Design Engineer in the Printer Division. From 1984 until 1994 he worked for the Digital Equipment Corporation, where he assumed the position of General Manager for the Subsystems and Server Business. In 1992 he obtained a General Management Program at the INSEAD Institute in Fontainebleau, France and 1995 his PhD as a Distance Learning Degree by the California Coast University in Santa Ana, USA.
In 1994, Günter Hauptmann joined the Rheinmetall AG as Director with full power of attorney until 1999 – responsible for Automotive Electronics and as CEO for Company Preh, Germany.
From 1999 until 2006 he was Member of the Executive Board at Mannesmann VDO AG/Siemens VDO AG and responsible for Interior and Infotainment & Electronics in a 10 B €+ Automotive Supplier Company.
He was and is Member of different Boards, like Norma Group AG, SVOX AG – Zuerich, Deutsche BP AG, Autotxt Ltd. – London, SAS Paris, ERTICO Brussels and different Siemens and Mannesmann internal Board and regional roles.
Since the end of 2006 he manages his own consulting businesswith focus on Automotive and Industry Electronics and joined smacpartners in 2011 as Member of the advisory Board.
